Rental Regulations & FAQs
- You must be 18 to rent a moped and you need a valid driver's license. If you are under 18 and hold a valid driver's license, you may rent a moped with a parent's signature.
- You must wear helmets and eye protection. This is a town ordinance and failure to comply may result in a ticket.
- Block Island (Town of New Shoreham) restricts the use of mopeds on dirt or unpaved roads.
- For the safety of yourself and your child, most rental companies do not allow pregnant women to rent or ride their mopeds.
Note: Block Island does not have a hospital so if you wipe out and are seriously injured you have to be life-flighted to the mainland. We have limited resources and our fire and rescue department is voluntary so be careful, ride safely, and stay off all dirt roads.
