At the northern end of the island, you will find Sachem Pond. A mere half-mile from the North Lighthouse, it is the perfect spot to stop on your way to take a beach walk, bike ride, or watch the sunset.

Block Island's National Wildlife Refuge surrounds Sachem Pond. Be mindful of sensitive dune edges where beach grass grows and nesting areas of any type within the refuge. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife that surrounds Sachem Pond.

If there is any time to visit Sachem Pond, it is most definitely Golden Hour. It's one of the most photographed places at sunset because of how the hues of the sun reflect off the water with the silhouette of the North Light in the background. A must-see!
