North Light Block Island

See directions

A popular historical site to visit on Block Island is the North Light. Inside the historical landmark is a small museum. The museum offers insight into the lighthouse's history and famous historic shipwrecks that occurred off the rocky shoreline of the Northern point of Block Island.

Block Island's National Wildlife Refuge surrounds the lighthouse. Be mindful of sensitive dune edges where beach grass grows and nesting areas of any type within the refuge. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife that surrounds the North Light! Cow cove is the small cove on the ocean side as you walk to the light from the parking lot.

The scenic Northern Light is located on the northernmost point of Block Island. Travel to the end of Corn Neck Road past Sachem Pond. At the end of Corn Neck Road, you will arrive at a parking lot where you must leave automobiles and bikes. Walk along the shore from the parking lot for around 10-15 minutes to arrive at the lighthouse. DO NOT SWIM at this beach due to STRONG RIPTIDES.
