Block Island maintains two harbors and is well-known as one of New England's premier boating destinations.

New Harbor is on the West Side of the Island, in the beautiful Great Salt Pond. New Harbor has 3 large marinas, 90 town moorings, and a 75-acre anchorage for vessels. The Harbormaster's Office is located at the Block Island Boat Basin during the summer season. 

For information on moorings and anchorage in New Harbor, please contact the Harbormaster on VHF Ch 12.

Moorings in New Harbor are first come first serve.  There is a $45 per night per boat fee and  a 50 cents per person landing fee will be assessed on the first night.  Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

Old Harbor is on the East Side of the Island is a Harbor of Refuge protected by a breakwater.  There is limited space for anchoring which is restricted to seven days in a fourteen-day period. 

Dockage in Old Harbor is $3.00 per foot; day rates are $1.20 per foot.  You can contact the Dockmaster on VHF Ch 12 or at (401) 466-3235.

New Harbor and Old Harbor have had a no discharge status since 1993.  Please utilize our free pump out boat service, the first of its kind on the East Coast.  New Harbor pump out service is available by contacting them on Ch 73 between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm.  Old Harbor pump out service is available on CH 72 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Harbors office hours at the New Harbor Boat Basin (near the Oar Restaurant), where Shellfish Licenses may be obtained, are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm seven days a week.
