Please join us at the Block Island Historical Society on Thursday, June 18 at 5:30 for a special Thursday Evening Program: Simeon Simons, and his role in the Revolutionary War. Simons, a Western Pequot and Pokanoket Wampanoag, served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and was a personal bodyguard to George Washington.
Simon's story, passed down through oral traditions, will be shared by our special guest, Simons’ 5th generation great-granddaughter, Junise Golden Feather Bliss, founder and CEO of the Sweetgrass Cultural Enrichment Center.
