Where to Eat

Block Island has many great sit down restaurants and takeout options. From world-class seafood at Finns Restaurant to cheap burgers at the Poor People's Pub, the options on the Block are actually plentiful for the small 3 x 7 mile Island. Here are some of our suggestions for your different desires while visiting the Island.

Looking for fine dining?

If you're feeling fancy and want to have a quality meal Block Island offers some great options with top-of-the-line chefs. Enjoy tuna nachos and some of the best Asian Inspired food you'll ever have at Elis Restaurant which offers a laid-back cozy vibe located right in the center of the local town. For some beautiful presentation and elegant style head over to Winfield's and get some of the best steak offered on the Block. For a fine martini and some top of the line Italian cuisine head over to the Spring House Hotel and live like a Victorian Era aristocrat. For a sunset meal perched above the shoreline hit the National Hotel located on the main strip right in front of Old Harbor.

Looking for cheaper options?

If you're traveling on a budget Block Island still has a few great options for you! Enjoy a juicy burger for under $10 and local craft beer at the Poor Peoples Pub located on Ocean Avenue. For some great Mexican tacos or burritos head over to Calaveras located on Water Street right next to the ferry. Need a drink and some cheap grub? Go to Club Soda for some classic American dishes and play some pub games and listen to some live music or jukebox hits.

Looking for a quick bite?

If you're in a hurry or need sustenance fast make sure you go to Rebecca's Seafood Takeout where you can grab amazing wraps, seafood dishes, and classic America meals (They're even open late night on the weekends to satisfy your cravings after the bars close). Right across the street from Rebeccas you will find the Old Harbor View Takeout which also has wraps and sandwiches to die for and frozen Del's Lemonade to satisfy your thirst on a hot summer day.

Looking for seafood?

If you want some world class seafood you've come to the right place! Make sure to stop by Finn's right in Old Harbor across from the ferry for some of the best lobsters caught right off of Block Island. For some delicious fish options head down to Dead Eye Dicks and enjoy the local catch on their beautiful porch overlooking New Harbor. For one of the best lobster rolls on the Island make sure to stop by the National Hotel or the Beach Head and enjoy the sunset and while you sip a cocktail.

Looking for breakfast?

Need some breakfast on the Island? If you just got off the ferry head over to Ernies Restaurant to fill up before a big day of activities. If you've got some transportation or took a plane to the Block make sure you stop by Bethany's Airport Diner and experience an authentic Block Island breakfast or lunch special. If you're looking for some healthier options go to Persephone's Kitchen & Cafe where you can get a delicious quiche or breakfast bowl with a smoothie, juice or coffee to get your morning going. If you need a quick breakfast sandwich and another option for coffee hit the Topside Cafe or the Old Post Office Bagel Shop for one of the best bagels you'll ever have.

Looking for sweets?

If you need to satisfy your sweet tooth stop by Blocks of Fudge for a huge assortment of candy and fudge options or Chapel Sweets to get all your sweet necessities.  For some colder sweets on a hot day head to the Ice Cream Place or Aldos and choose from a large selection of delicious ice cream, soft-serve and gelato options. If you need ice cream in a hurry go to Rebecca's or the Old Harbor Takeout and get your ice cream on the go.

Looking for groceries?

If you need to stock up on food for the week or are craving a deli sandwich, go to the BIG or Block Island Grocery located on Ocean Avenue. If you want more organic options and a cheap breakfast sandwich head over to the Block Island Depot further down the road on Ocean Avenue and get some more healthier supplies for your packed lunches.
